The weldability of 4130 steel sheet is excellent. 4130 is resistant to scaling and oxidation and has a clean, smooth finish. Our 4130 sheet is offered cold rolled in .025-.063 and hot rolled in .080-.125. The difference between hot and cold rolled 4130 sheet is cosmetic, the strength is the same.
AISI 4130 Alloy Steel - 4130 Steel Forgings All Metals AISI or SAE 4130 grade is a low-alloy steel containing chromium and molybdenum as strengthening agents. The steel has good strength and toughness, weldability and machinability. Type 4130 steel should be forged between 2250 and 1750 º F (1230 and 950 º C.).
AISI 4130 steel can be annealed at 843°C (1550°F) followed by air cooling at 482°C (900°F). Tempering. Tempering of AISI 4130 steel can be performed at 399 to 566°C (750 to 1050°F), depending on the desired strength level. Hardening. Hardening of AISI 4130 steel can
AISI 4130 Steel - 25CrMo4 - JIS SCM430 - GB 30CrMo Aisi 4130 steel must be forged at the condition of the temperature at the range of 1230º C to 950º C.The 1230º C is maximum. And do not forge after the temperature of forging stock drops below approximately 870. If the finishing temperature of forging is lower, then the grain size will decrease.
AISI 4130 Steel 25CrMo4 1.7218 708A25 SCM430 AISI 4130 steel is a medium carbon, low alloy steel in ASTM A29 standard. 4140 steel is also commonly referred to as a chromoly steel, or chrome moly steel.
Jun 16, 2014 · I would not recommend using "soft" low melting point solder, it has very little strength. I've brazed up several bicycle and repaired motorcycle frames with 2 1/4 Cr 1/2 Mo and Manganese Moly steel with no problem. In all but one case I used standard bronze rod with about a 1375 -1450 degree melting point. Bronze allows for a more loose fit.
