A514 Alloy (ASTM A514, ASTM A6) is a structural/mechanical alloy steel plate with great workability and weldability. To achieve different degrees of strength, A514 alloy plate is quenched and tempered in oil or water. Certain chemical additions improve hardenability, strength, and toughness.

This lightweight yet tough alloy steel grade is ideal for use in challenging environments. Universal Steel America supplies A514-B steel plate with thicknesses from 1/4 to 8 inches and in the quench-and-tempered condition. Its classified as a high-strength-low alloy, or HSLA, material grade.
AISI A514 Grade F Alloy Steel (UNS K11576)Alloy steels are designated by AISI four-digit numbers. They are more responsive to heat and mechanical treatments than carbon steels. They comprise various types of steels having compositions which exceed the limitations of Va, Cr, Si, Ni, Mo, C and B in the carbon steels.

Machining "T1" steel? - Practical MachinistMay 01, 2010 · Machining "T1" steel? I'm in need to make a big hole- apprx. 5"- in a big block- apprx 1.5" thick- of T1 steel. I wasn't overly familiar with that spec, so a quick Google gives me either A514-T1 or T1-321/T1-360, all high-wear, abrasion-resistant steels. I don't know the precise spec for the supplied block apart from just "T1", at the moment.
Plate and Sheet Harbor SteelUsed for structural applications, carbon steel plate and sheet in both hot rolled, pickled & oiled, and cold rolled are produced from ingots and slabs made by the continuous cast, the basic-oxygen, or electric furnace processes. This material is readily formed and welded using conventional methods.

The Bessemer Steel Process - ThoughtCoApr 02, 2019 · The Bessemer Steel Process was a method of producing high-quality steel by shooting air into molten steel to burn off carbon and other impurities. It was named after the British inventor Sir Henry Bessemer, who worked to develop the process in the 1850s.

Apr 30, 2019 · Looking for suggestions on good cutting tools for use on A514 steel? The machine is a large horizontal boring mill. Many of the parts are cut out on a burn table before machining so there are hard areas along the edges. We have used some carbide but have had issues with breakage on the hard spots. High speed steel wears out quickly.
